Itinerary

7 night / 8 day Classic Scotland Self Drive

Day 1: Edinburgh to Stirling

Pick up your rental car in Edinburgh and drive to The Kelpies and on to Stirling. Explore Stirling Castle, visit Bannockburn and the Wallace Monument. Overnight in Stirling.

Day 2: Stirling to Oban (B)

Depart Stirling and drive west via Loch Lomond, the largest lake in Great Britain. Continue along Loch Fyne and pass by Inveraray Castle, the charming home of the Duke of Argyll. Alternatively, travel via the rugged landscape of Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe, one of the most scenic valleys in Scotland. Overnight in Oban.

Day 3: Oban to Isle of Skye (B)

This morning drive north and take a ferry from Mallaig to the Isle of Skye. Alternatively, continue via Loch Lochy to Kyle of Lochalsh and take the bridge to the Isle of Skye. Overnight on the Isle of Skye.

Day 4: Isle of Skye to Inverness (B)

Depart the Isle of Skye and travel to Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most iconic images of Scotland. Continue to Inverness for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Inverness to Perth (B)

This morning take a cruise on Loch Ness and explore Urquhart Castle. Later continue to Pitlochry and visit the smallest distillery in Scotland, the Edradour Whisky Distillery. Overnight in Perth.

Day 6: Perth to Edinburgh (B)

Explore the ‘home of golf’, St Andrews, before continuing along the coast via the small fishing villages of Elie and Pittenweem. Cross the Queensferry Crossing with its spectacular views of the Firth of Forth. Return your rental car in Edinburgh and transfer to your hotel. Spend the next two nights in Edinburgh.

Day 7: Edinburgh (B)

Spend the day at leisure discovering all that Edinburgh has to offer. Visit Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyroodhouse (extra charge).

Day 8: Edinburgh (B)

Your self drive journey concludes today after breakfast.
